IMPROVING COMMUNITY SPACES
As we enter our final year of Big Local funding, our thoughts are now turning to what we can do to leave a lasting legacy in the Catton Grove area.
The majority of Big Local activities and services we have developed over the past 10 years have been based at Catton Grove Community Centre on Jewson Road. Over the years, the Centre has served us well and we want to make sure that it remains a focal point for community activities in Catton Grove for many years to come.
To achieve this, we will be bringing part of the Community Centre back into community use, after many years of being sub-let as office accommodation to a local charity. This part of the centre is now vacant but it needs some TLC before it can be used again for community activities.
Over the next few months, we will be giving this space an extensive makeover to create a second multi-purpose meeting room for a range of community activities.
We will be changing the layout of the room to create a more flexible meeting space, with upgraded, eco-friendly lighting. We will also be re-modelling the toilet area within this meeting space to create a single, gender-neutral, fully accessible toilet space with additional facilities for baby changing. In the corner of the new meeting room there will be a small kitchen area for visitors to prepare hot drinks and light refreshments. To the side of the main meeting room, we will have a second, smaller meeting room for activities that require a more confidential meeting space and we will have a walk-in cupboard for storage of equipment, tables and chairs etc.
We would like to know what you think about our plans to improve the Community Centre.
